Comparing opera’s makes you appreciate and value uncommon works. Montserrat Caballé obviously is a primadonna and the performance is pompous. Linda Kelm is more demure, more in the style of Cherubini, and the performance is conducted well. It’s hard to believe that the conductor is the same in both performances. One could discuss this for hours, but only listening offers a solution and an entertaining affair. |
