London, Royal Albert Hall 1961
Under the direction of Carlo Maria Giulina with the ladies Schwarzkopf, Söderström en Berganza and the gentlemen Corena and Blanc in the most important roles leaves nothing more to be said. The uniqueness of this recording is the Susanna of Elisabeth Söderström, who is more famous for her role of countess. The only criticism is that Fernando Corena sounds a little too old for the role of Figaro, but compensates with a wonderful creation. Please take note of the smaller roles by singers who would also eventually make world careers.
